Now that the dust has been swept away…

I’m in the middle of updating all my writing programs now.

If dust could accumulate on code itself, there would be a mountain of it being kicked up right now. It’s been a long while since I’ve popped up the programs, the version numbers are reflecting that, and it’s been even longer since I’ve looked at my notes and story threads.

So, what happened?

Plain and simple, real life and my day job happened. Without getting too terribly in-depth, elements of my day-job was taking a quite heavy toll on my state of mind and was making me push away my writing and literature as a whole. Every day became what felt like an endless loop of waking up, going to work, coming home, and thinking of little more than how much I didn’t want to go back to the reality that was my job. If you’ve ever heard of the phenomenon known as the “Call of the Void”, yeah, it was becoming increasingly frequent.

Thus, I moved on.

After some time away from there now, I’ve felt the urge to write again since I’ve had time to reconnect with my imagination and come down from that seemingly endless loop. Things in my personal life are still changing, and I do miss some of the people I had the pleasure of working with, but I’m in a better frame of mind to be dealing with life and reconnecting with my passions than I was. I’ve not got anything currently being penned, but I’m working on the foundation for a project now, so the future is looking brighter than it has been for some time.

Looking through my programs again and even reconnecting with this website has been like a strange trip down memory lane, but a welcome one none the less. Opening my old codices and timelines, remembering the characters and places I had planned out and intended to work with has made me eager to get back to work on stories containing them and their like once more.

I know this isn’t perhaps the big in-depth breakdown that a fan might want, and I do apologize that it isn’t. At the same time, for anyone who’s maybe disappointed that I seemingly disappeared, would such an explanation really make much difference?

I don’t think so, not really. Instead, I’m here now, I’m in the best frame of mind I’ve been in years, and I can finally feel the pull of writing once more. Thus, I’m not done yet.

Once I have some work done and proverbial ink on the page, I’ll post further updates like this. I’m not quite sure what life has in store for me in the future, but I do know this: I know what led me away from being able to connect with writing and I have absolutely no intention of ever returning there again.

Until then, I’ve got dusting and plotting to do. Also, apparently I’ve got an error to fix in Blood in the Machine over on Kindle. Oops.
